Typical Tuscan farmhouse with a swimming pool for rent just 10 minutes from the walls of Lucca, set in a splendid estate of terraced olive groves overlooking a pond with its small island shaded by trees, reached by a wooden bridge.
The elegant villa of approximately 660sqm is ideal for up to 12 people and consists of 6 luxuriously furnished bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. The ground floor is large and sunny and offers a lounge with comfortable sofas, a guest study, a large domed dining room and a Tuscan kitchen.
The jasmine-covered gazebo surrounded by lawned gardens forms the backdrop to the illuminated pool. A happy refuge to discover and enjoy the magical beauty of the dolce vita.
The villa embodies a heritage of history, tradition and culture within its walls since it was once the home of Felice Matteucci (1808-1887) who, in the summer of 1854, invented the first racing engine (prototype for the modern car) in its on-site laboratory. While his father was appointed advisor to Leopold II’s High Court of Justice, Felice spent much of his time looking after the two country houses the family owned in the early 18th century.
